All sorts of stuff...the last tooth is a doozy.

Last Tuesday the kids had their check ups.  Johnny needed one shot, of course he wasn't happy about it.  They have him at 50th percentile for weight and 5th percentile for height.  Holiday had a similar growth pattern at his age and now she's back into the 50th percentile for height so I wouldn't worry that Johnny will be short.  Although it could happen.  In any case I'd say that both the kids will be taller than me when they grow up.  But they are also both happy and healthy, just need their flu shots come fall.  Thursday night was Holiday's parent/teacher conference.  It went well, they remarked that they can't always follow her train of thought which isn't surprising.  She's a very imaginative child so you really have to keep up because her world of pretend and that of reality pretty much intertwine in her mind.  All the kids keep journals to practice her letters which is something she really likes to do.  I guess she asks for her journal on her free time and does it.  They think it's great she practices so much.  She doesn't consider it practice, in her mind she's writing lists for her seal's birthday party or writing invitations for some event.  She's a born party planner.  Then I got pink eye......sigh.  I've never had it before.  So far no one has caught it from me so it's looking like pink eye due to extreme allergies.  Darn cottonwood and scotch broom, that stuff is like my kryptonite.  So David had to do all the errands without me this weekend.  Holiday did her dance class.  Then on Sunday they did their portraits for dance class in their new costumes.  But Johnny woke up with a fever on Sunday and still has it.  I'm back at work today so David's staying home with him today.  Poor little guy.  He fell asleep pretty early on Sunday so I laid him down.  When I got him up it kind of freaked me out with two big (like size of my hand print big) blood stains on his sheets.  I realized fairly quickly that he was teething and it all made sense.  My kids teeth badly.  Holiday was constant vomiting while Johnny goes to the fever place.  When his first year molars came in they were pretty gnarly-looking.  And he drools so much that it made the blood look far worse than it really was.  Then you can see him chewing on it the whole time.  Here's hoping that last tooth gets settled soon.

Mother's Day Weekend

Well I just got totally spoiled this weekend for Mother's Day.  I came home on Friday to find that David and Johnny built a trellis for my grapes, I love it.  After dance class on Saturday we went for Mother's Day sushi.  The kids don't really like anything there but they enjoy the food going by on the conveyor belt.  We got Holiday a new leotard because she outgrew her last one.  We also got her new costume for her recital and it's adorable.  I giggled the whole time during their practice.  Then I did Mother's Day shopping spree for new work shirts.  There was a pretty good sale so I made out like a bandit. Then I got a new watch because the light wasn't working anymore in my old one.  I don't know what it is but watches don't last long with me, always been that way.  On Sunday David made Mother's Day brunch for Grandma Linda and we walked it off at Kubota Gardens.  Holiday and I did some significant yard work too and got a lot done.  We were both pretty tired out afterwards.  Most of the stuff we've planted from seed is doing well. Just need to stay on top of the watering when it gets warm.  David's wanting to get back there now and do a pass on the bushes.  That's probably a good idea to do that soon since we're both kind of allergic to the blooms and that'll probably happen soon.  It's called 'bridal veil' since it has white, lacy blooms, but it smells like roses...like a lot of roses.  It's just too much smell for us.  So hopefully he can beat the blooms.

Happy Birthday Johnny!

Hard to believe my little guy is 2 already.  He's learned so much and surprises me all the time.  He's got a fantastic little personality and probably has the best laugh ever.  David turned his car seat around this weekend so now he's forward facing,  it's a whole new world for him now.  Now we're letting him have chocolate and peanut butter and there's been no adverse effects.  We waited a while on those just because David and I have had our own allergic pasts and we'd like our kids to not go through that.  He really likes peanut butter sandwiches, but we need to make them more bite sized since he'll cram a quarter sandwich into his face and then choke on it.  We busted out the m&m's this last weekend during his birthday party.  Johnny parked himself next to the candy dish so I had to move it and give him his own little stash to munch on.  He's still got the drool factor so I didn't want him to drool all over the m&m's that everyone was eating.  I made Minion cupcakes that turned out really well, thank you again Pinterest.  He really liked his presents.  Grandma Claudia and her cousin Marsha were there as well as some of our Preston friends.  Johnny really loves his Uncle Drew, cried really hard when it was time for Uncle Drew to leave.  But it was 7:30 pm and they really did need to go with bedtime approaching.  We'll just have to have them babysit some time in the near future, we're due for a date night.  Now that the birthdays are done we've got other stuff to focus on.  Check up's for the kids are coming up.  Holiday will be getting her costume for her dance recital this weekend, the recital is in June.  This time of year gets busy for the dance studio with costumes, portraits, ticket sales, combined classes, dress rehearsal and finally the recital.  Holiday's Pre-K graduation will be in June.  I think the kids might do some little song or something for the 'ceremony'.  She's all signed up for summer camp through the same place that's been doing her Pre-K.  The same place will be doing her before/after school care when Kindergarten starts in September.
