2 year doctor's appointment

Yesterday was Holly's 2 year well check and she's right on track. Her height and weight track her to be in the 25th percentile, which is about what I thought. She'll most likely be taller than me when she grows up. Holly remembered where we were as soon as we got to the waiting room though and started crying. Everyone kept telling her she wasn't going to need any shots this time but she was not to be consoled. Poor baby. The doctor said girls usually potty train between 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 years old so we're still early, but recommended starting to get peepee and poopoo words into her vocabulary so she can tell us if she did a pee or a poo. Maybe even sitting on her potty and reading potty books. We'll also start to think about getting a toddler bed. I don't think she's ready for it yet, but it will be good to have one ready if she decides she's going to try and escape her crib. Anyways...after Holly's appointment Daddy walked her around the Capitol Hill area while I had my appointment. It makes it convienient to have the same doctor.

By the way, David has posted new videos to the YouTube link. I think it's caught up to the Easter Egg hunt.

Easter Hunt Pictures and a couple extra

Holiday likes to color.

She likes to do all sorts of stuff.

Looks like she's changing her mind.

Now she wants to play with blocks.

Holly's such a lady with her purse, wearing Mommy's shoes.

Day of the Easter egg hunt. Daddy's showing Holly what to do.

And there she goes.

She was having so much fun.

Just look at that happy face.

And the goofy grin.

It was about this point when we realized she only was choosing blue eggs, completely went out of her way to get the blue ones.

She was picky too. Blue eggs that were broken or too dirty were left behind. It seems she took Daddy literally when he put a blue egg in her bag, so that's all she wanted. Or she just really likes blue.

What do Holly and Daddy see?

A giraffe.

She saying "Yah" and calling David a "Daddy horsey".

Another giraffe.

Who sees the elephant?

Holly does.

Lunch time.

Holly working on her flatware skills.

Wearing Mommy's hat.

Just look at that cute little Holly.

Wish you could all see Holly run around inside the Zoomazium. But doing the slide there you need a parent at the top to make sure she gets on right and a parent the bottom to catch her otherwise it could have been disastrous. That slide was wicked fast and Holly loved it. I was the catcher and I have to grip her pretty tight because it felt like she was going to fly through my hands. I had to talk one girl out of going down head first on her back. She would landed full force on her hand and a kid with a broken neck is all we need. She turned around for me and stunned how fast the slide was. Disaster avoided.

Happy Earth Day

Holly has a day off from daycare today, mostly due to Easter this weekend not Earth Day. But they must have had their art class yesterday because she came home with a picture she 'drew'. She was very proud of her picture, she went on and on about the 'picture'. They also planted a pansy plant in a cup for her to take home with a decorated Easter egg in it. So there was definitely a tribute to Earth Day in there. One of the gals at the daycare was telling David that Holly had the biggest vocabulary out of all the other 2 year olds there. Holly is simply a sponge right now and loves learning new stuff and doing new things. She can climb up the dining room chair and sit herself in her booster seat now. Last night she was practicing putting on Daddy's socks and Mommy's shoes. We definitely encourage her to be independent. We're hoping to be able to attend the Bunny Bounce at the zoo tomorrow for the Easter egg hunt if the scheduling shakes out alright. It's been awhile since we've been there so Holly might be more interested in seeing the animals. She'll more than likely like the Zoomazium there, it's an indoor, zoo themed play area for little ones.

Happy 2nd Birthday Holly

It was down to the wire but everyone was able to get better in time for the birthday party. We had a pretty good turn out too. 17 people including us in our little house, but since the weather was decent people could hang out on the back deck and play croquet in the back yard. Well...Holly played steal people's croquet balls. Of course, we busted out the bubbles too. Holly seemed a little bewildered when we sang her 'Happy Birthday', I'm glad she didn't cry. I've watched AFV, that can happen sometimes. When we leaned in to blow out her candle she decided she wanted to snag some M&M's instead. I did decorate her cake with M&M's for a reason. She was actually excited to see she got clothes, I didn't think she'd care. But she'd open a box with clothes in it and exclaimed in her way and would drape them over her head. The toys she loved too and wanted to play with them immediately. It's a toss up between the giant coloring book, the big pink car, and the Elmo stereo. If I had to decide a tie-breaker the Elmo stereo makes her dance and sing. But Holly really loves all her toys and plays with almost every single toy you see in our living room, that includes the books. Pictures coming soon.

Pre-party bugs

Holly was sick yesterday so I stayed home with her. David and I both feel a little sick too, but it's more like a sore throat, whereas Holly threw up before we even left the house and other stuff. Holly is feeling better today though, she made it in to daycare without incident. She was a little fussy this morning but I think she just wanted to stay home because she got to yesterday, she probably likes having the run of the place. I'm really hoping there isn't anymore sickness because her birthday party is this Saturday and I'm actually having a significant number of people showing up and that's rare for me. We went to Sable's birthday party last Saturday and Holly did alright. She was able to eat her lunch plus a little cake and ice cream. It's too bad the weather's been so cold because Holly really liked the blowing of bubbles on the front porch at Sable's and was upset when we brought her back inside. She cheered up when she discovered that Sable's room had toys, then she didn't want leave Sable's room.

Greenlake Pictures

The family's at Green Lake in this picture.

Holly's exploring and Daddy's riding his skateboard.

We went to the playground next.

Playing with the digger.

Holly liked the big swings.

She prefers to do the big swings by herself now...I just don't push her that high.

Playing with Mommy's hats.

Funny face.

Holly seems to generally be doing much better with daycare. She still has her bad days like any kid, but now when we're getting ready in the mornings she walks into the room you're in dragging a toy and says 'Good Morning.' That's much more pleasant than scream crying and Holly angrily stomping around. David says the first thing Holly does when she gets to daycare is locates the kitty and pets it nice and says 'hi kitty' to it. She doesn't do that with our cat, Vader. But he'll be 11 years old in August so he's kind of a grumpy old man cat now. I think he does quite well being around an excited 2 year old and all the baby gates in his way. Sometimes she gets him and sometimes he gets her, it happens. They both try to treat each other nicely for the most part.

Holiday can read her name

David was writing numbers in crayon with Holiday yesterday morning, and she was sounding them off as usual...2...7...3...etc. Then David wrote her name, she looked at it, and then chirped, "Holiday!" Last night David was drawing with crayons with Holiday again, wrote out her name again, and the same thing happened. Holiday can read her name...we're very excited. We have been writing her name out for her for some time. She may even been practicing that in daycare.
