More Pictures!

This was Mother's Day brunch at Grandma's house.

Daddy made brunch at home and we brought it to Grandma's house.

Cheese!

We went to Kubota Gardens after brunch.

More Kubota, on a little island.

Waiting up in the rocks for Daddy.

This was Johnny's birthday party.

It had a Minion theme.

These were the cupcakes I made.  Thank you Pinterest.

Opening presents with Uncle Drew.

Johnny was getting sleepy since he didn't want to take a nap that day...

...but he perked right up after getting some cool stuff.

Johnny likes his new monster feet.

It's just too hilarious.

We went to the Carnival at Holiday's elementary school on Friday and it was fun.  They had food trucks and lots of games and activities for the kids.  Holiday's dance class was much like last week, but it's the last one of the year.  After class we went to the Georgetown Carnival and that was great too.  We got there early so Holiday got her face painted right away and we hit the food trucks pretty early.  That was nice since both of those usually have long lines.  We checked out the wares, power tool races, and music a little.  The performance art is a pretty big draw.  We let the kids play at the Sand Lot again.  Yesterday we took Daddy to Father's Day brunch at Ivar's Salmon House.  I gave him a Seahawks jersey and he really likes it.  It's something he's always wanted but probably would have never bought for himself.  This week will probably be a lot of preparing for the dance rehearsal on Friday and the recital on Saturday.  Woo-hoo!

Random pictures - Pre-K Graduation - Dance Class

Johnny at the Southcenter Play Area.

Holly's right behind Johnny on the slide.

And again.

Peeping through the hole in the log.

Peek-a-boo.

Cheese! (He really is saying that).

It would have been...

...a crying shame...

...had not this girl...

...been in dance class.

Keep on 'Vogue'-ing Holiday.

This was during insect month.

I could not get enough of the hat.

Holiday had her Pre-K Graduation last Friday. Her class did a song and dance all dressed in black wearing dark shades.  When her class was on the stage her feet were hip width apart, hands behind her back on her waist.  At first I thought she was being tough girl then I realized this was their neutral position and she was the only one staying on top of it.  Then the song started, it was Will Smith's Men in Black.  Only they sang "Here comes the Pre-K class!"  They had moves and everything and again she was standing out at how good she was.  Each kid had an opportunity to do some kind of move solo.  Over half the kids passed since all the parents were watching.  But you know Holiday did it.  It was some kind kip I think, not sure if that exactly had a name, but it was great.  We might need to sign her up for Hip-Hop class when she's old enough.  Then on Saturday we did the combined class with 3 other classes.  Holiday did really well at listening and following instructions.  Johnny did well too that he didn't melt down or cause too big of a distraction to the dancers and we were able to stay and watch.  Johnny even got into the music every time a new song started up and started dancing himself.  It's Jackson themed this year so it's anything Jackson 5, Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson.  I really liked the tap class's dance to "Bad".  It's like the only time when dancers are told not to smile at the audience.  It was a lot of angry stomping and it looked like fun.  It certainly made an impression on Holiday, she called it the 'mad dance'.

Pictures of the kids

The month of learning about insects really struck a chord with Holiday.  That's a pretty adorable hat.

Woo-hoo!

 Painting time!

Oh so messy by the end.

But it's fun.

"Daddy I want to play."

There we go.

Johnny wearing a pig snout...priceless.

Stuff and more stuff

Whew! It's been a while since I've posted.  I tend to keep pretty busy with regular day to day life and honestly I can't remember the last time when I wasn't a little bit tired.  Johnny got a cold with his teething and he's still pretty snotty but he's sleeping much better.  Now David and Holiday have a cold too.  I'm popping zinc in the hopes I'll be spared.  I can always try, right?  Grandma Linda had an accident which left her with an ankle broke in three places.  For that kind of injury it meant surgery.  Now she's recovering in the nursing home again and we're hoping she'll get to go home soon, depends on how it goes.  Holiday's dance class is gearing up for the big dance recital so everyone is excited about that.  We've got the costume, got portraits done and bought the tickets last night.  This week they start the combined classes which means for her that there will be four different classes taking turns to do their dance so they get used to idea of getting ready to wait and then do their thing.  In a few weeks Holiday's summer school starts up which I don't think that will be a huge change for her.  Her elementary school has already sent us a school supply list for the fall, which of course could change before then.  Her teacher won't be determined until August, and we've been invited to the Kindergarten family potluck before school starts so we can see her classroom and meet her teacher and socialize with other Kindergarten families.  David and I mostly keep occupied with work, taking care of the kids and doing chores and errands.  We play board games when can (and have the brain power).  David plays on his skateboard as much as he can.  I've been keeping up with the garden, the weeds are always ahead of me.  But the pumpkins are doing awesome.  The zucchini and tomatoes look a little weak so we've have to see how they do.  Some years are simply bad years for doing produce no matter how good you are.  David and I did manage a date night and got to see the latest X-MEN movie.  I thought it was great.  We get date nights so rarely these days that we only do things and eat at places that we're fairly sure we're going to like.
